Kundapur, May 9: Harish Tolar Kollur said that Green Bench of Chennai high court has accepted the writ for inquiry that was submitted on river pollutions of Kollur, environment destruction and encroaching of government lands.

Harish said, “The holy springs that flow from Kodachadri hills join together and flow as Agnitheertha, Kashi Theertha and Sauparnika river in Kollur. Devotees have lot of faith on this river. However, from the past few years the lodges that are built at Kollur, multi storey buildings and commercial establishments unusable liquids and sold waste is getting into the Sauparnika river directly. This is not only destroying the sanctity of the river but also causing damage and perishing of river creatures and animals living in nearby hills.

“These issues are increasing year by year without any solution. Though many protests took place to preserve the sanctity of the river and protection of the environment, it has fallen on deaf ears. In the wake of this situation, suggestions were taken from devotees of Sri Mookambika Devi, media friends and environmentalists and various records were obtained under RTI act and writ was submitted to green bench. Now the same is accepted for inquiry by the green bench of Chennai high court,” he stated.
