Kundapur, May 10: A man set fire to his own house under the influence of alcohol in Kyasanamakki of Yadadi Matyadi village in the taluk in the early morning of May 9.

The accused, Dinesh Mogaveera (36), got married two years ago to Shubhalatha after a love affair. They have a seven-month-old child.

Dinesh arrived home on the night of May 8 in an inebriated state and picked a quarrel with his wife and in-laws. The house inmates called 112 as they could not control the ruckus caused by Dinesh. He also misbehaved with Kota police ASI Jayaprakash Rai and other personnel.

Sensing the seriousness of the situation, the police asked the house inmates to shift Shubalatha, the wife of the accused, and the child to another house. It is reported that early in the morning, Dinesh, upon seeing that no one was in the house, broke open the door and set fire to it.

More than Rs one lac worth of hotel equipment, electricity connection, tiles, roof, grocery items, clothes, and cupboard were reduced to ashes.

After setting fire to the house, Dinesh fled. However, the police managed to apprehend him in Halady by tracking his mobile phone. Tejasvi, the station officer of Kota, along with personnel, rushed to the spot and registered a case in this connection.

Alcohol can never be banned. It is available even in Saudi Arabia. Before banning alcohol PEPSI,COKE , and all packaged juices should be banned as they are more harmful to human beings than alcohol and is consumed by men , women and children. There is a vast majority of population who destroy their own houses without drinking alcohol. Non alcoholics are more dangerous to society than alcoholics.
