Bantwal: Newly-built grotto inaugurated, blessed at Nirkan

Bantwal, May 12: A special event took place at St Thomas the Apostle Church in Nirkan parish - the inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes on May 12. The event was attended by the donor, Melwyn Castelino and his family, Valencia; who played an important role in making the grotto possible.

The grotto was formally inaugurated by Letisha Castelino, the mother of Melwyn Castelino, where her presence added joy on this occasion.

The grotto was blessed by Fr Naveen Pinto, judicial vicar for the diocese of Mangalore, during the event. parish priest Fr Leo William Lobo was also present and introduced the grotto to the gathering. Vincent Bennis - the vice president & Shanthi Veigas - the secretary of parish pastoral council, along with Austin Lobo, co-ordinator of commissions for Nirkan church, were also in attendance during the event.

The inauguration of the grotto was a momentous occasion, witnessed by the Castelino family, parishioners, and devotees. The grotto is a wonderful addition to the St Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan parish, and is expected to serve as a place of worship and reflection for the community.
