Kundapur, May 12: In a daring incident late Saturday night, thieves gained entry into Kanaka petrol pump using duplicate keys and made off with two mobile phones. However, their plans were foiled by the courageous actions of a salesman who was sleeping outside the premises.
The salesman, who had concluded his duties around 11 pm, secured two mobile phones and a bag containing cash inside the petrol pump office before retiring for the night outdoors.
Around midnight, two unknown individuals on a motorcycle entered the office using duplicate keys and made off with the mobile phones and cash bag. Stirred by the sound of their movements, the salesman quickly reacted, pursuing the intruders. A scuffle ensued, resulting in one of the thieves falling from the bike.
Undeterred, the salesman engaged in a physical altercation with the thieves, managing to wrest the cash bag from their possession. Despite his efforts, the thieves escaped with the two mobile phones.
Describing the perpetrators, the salesman noted that one wore a helmet while the other concealed their face with a mask. A report has been filed at the Byndoor police station, and investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits.
