Dubai Gears up for 'Dhoom Dhamaka' Music, Comedy Fiesta

Dubai, Oct 16: Harish Sherigar's ACME Building Materials 'Dhoom Dhamaka', an event for a special cause, will be an entertainment fiesta for Indians in Dubai next weekend, specially for people of Karnataka region, as Mangalore's well-known musical troupe will join two of India's most talented artistes Swapnil and VIP to present an evening of music and laughter.

The event will be organised at the Sheikh Rashid auditorium, Indian High School Karama, Dubai on October 21 from 5.30 pm onwards.

Harish Sherigar, himself a talented singer and well-known entrepenuer in Dubai is organising this event to support an institution for special needs in Mangalore. At the same time, he wants to present a quality show with well-known artistes from India

Swapnil Joshi is an Indian film and television actor in Hindi and Marathi languages. He began his career on television at the age of nine in the role of young Kush in Ramanand Sagar’s mythological TV epic, Uttar Ramayana (1986), a sequel to Ramayana. He is mainly known for his comic roles. He has done lead roles in TV series Krishna (1993), Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyaan (2005), Marathi film Checkmate (2008) and Marathi film Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai (2010).

As a stand-up comedian he first appeared in Comedy Circus 1 (2007) with VIP and the duo secured the runners-up spot. In Comedy Circus 2 (2008), he performed with Purbi Joshi as a celebrity guest. Later he participated as contestant in Comedy Circus sequel Maha Sangram (2010) with comedian VIP, going on to win it.

He has hosted TV reality series Ladies Special, a stand-up comedy show for female comedians on Zee TV (2007) and Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka (2008). In July 2010, his first Marathi film, Mumbai Pune Mumbai, in a lead role alongside Mukta Barve, was released.


Vijay Ishwarlal Pawar (VIP) is an Indian television comedy actor. In 2008, VIP won the second season of the comedy reality contest show Comedy Circus on Sony TV with his partner Juhi Parmar. In 2010, he was a contestant in the fourth season of the show along with his partner Swapnil Joshi. The same duo were also finalists in the first season of the show in 2007. Well-known for his mimicry, VIP can mimic more than 50 Bollywood actors.

Filmmaker RohitShetty, who was a judge in "Comedy Circus", has roped in his co-judge Archana Puran Singh along with comedian VIP for his new film "Bol Bachchan". The film, slated for 2012 release, stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

A music troupe from Mangalore will render top Hindi, Kannada and Tulu hits during the event. Anitha Samson, a lead singer who recently presented a three-hour non-stop rendition of Lata Mangeshakr hits, will be the prime attraction. She has the abililty to captivate the audience with her melodious voice and non-stop singing.

She will be paired with Mangalore's two senior and popular artistes Ranjan Das and Mohammed Hanif. Das is known to imitate Kishore Kumar's voice, and has already presented his shows in Saudi Arabua, Qatar and several parts of India. He will be performing in Dubai for the first time.

Mohammed Hanif, who is known as 'Junior Mohd Rafi' is well-known in the Gulf and parts of India. He has presented several shows to pay tribute to the singing legend Mohammed Rafi.

The trio will be supported by Nayana Rajgopal, a talented and noted singer from Mangalore.

Dubai's very own Harish Sherigar too will enthrall the audience with his melodious voice. Though singing is a hobby for this young entrepenuer, he has rendered his voice in professional shows in Dubai, India and also in Singapore.

The music team will be lead by guitar maestro Rajgopal who has played for many Kannada reality shows, films and other major shows across Karnataka. He has directed music for many shows across India and the Gulf.

For those looking forward to relax and enjoy the weekend with some superb music and have a hearty laugh, 'Dhoom Dhamaka' is the place to be.
