Puttur: St Philomena College hosts annual prize distribution ceremony

Puttur, May 15: St Philomena College hosted annual prize distribution ceremony for the departments of Commerce and Business Administration. The event, characterized by its celebration of student achievements, saw the distribution of numerous awards to outstanding students in the B Com and BBA programmes.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college, presided over the ceremony. In his address, Dr Monteiro emphasized the pivotal role of student behaviour and discipline in the educational environment. “Students' behaviour is like the mouthpiece of a college. When discipline and commitment are inculcated in the lives of students, their all-round development is possible,” he remarked, highlighting the commitment of the institution to fostering an environment conducive to comprehensive student growth.

Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, vice principal of the college, spoke about the fundamental objectives of education and student life. “Education gives humility. A student should aim towards the main goal in life. Progress is the life of a student and must be the main purpose,” Dr Moleyar stated, urging students to maintain focus on their educational and personal development goals.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr A P Radhakrishna, retired vice principal, who served as the chief guest. Reflecting on the potential within each student, Dr Radhakrishna encouraged them to realize and harness their capabilities to shape inspiring lives.

Hritisha and team rendered prayer. Dr Radhakrishna, dean of Department of Business Administration extended a warm welcome, and Professor Premalatha proposed a vote of thanks. Assistant professor Prashanth Rai compered. Assistant professors Pushpa N, Dhanya P T, and Tanuja announced the list of the prize winners.
