Mangaluru, May 15: The CCB police have arrested four drug peddlers who were carrying the banned MDMA drug from Bengaluru to Mangaluru by car and confiscated 270 grams of the drug from them.
On getting definite information, the police intercepted the car driven by the peddlers at Deralakatte, Mangaluru and arrested the accused. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Ameen Rafi (23), a resident of Bejai new road near Bejai church, Mangaluru; Mohammed Sinan Abdulla (23), residing at Bandsale house, Addoor village, Mangaluru; Mohammed Nauman (22), residing at Bava Mahal, J M Cross road, Bunder Mangaluru and Mohammed Safil (23), a resident of Kandimar House, near Store House, Boliar village, Ullal.
The police have confiscated from the accused 270 grams of MDMA drug worth Rs 6,50,000, four mobile phone handsets, a Toyota Corolla car and a digital weighing scale together valued at Rs 14,85,500. A case in this connection was filed with Cen police station.
The accused used to buy the drug in Bengaluru and sell it to students and the public in Karnataka as well as Kerala states. Among them, Mohammed Rafi has a drug peddling case registered against him in Mangaluru South police station in 2021.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of CCB unit ACP Geetha Kulkarni by police inspector Shyam Sunder H M, PSI Sharanappa Bhandary and CCB personnel.
