Mangaluru: ‘ChampYens Cricket League’ at Yenepoya Soccer Ground on May 18-19

Mangaluru, May 17: ‘ChampYens Cricket League’ will be held on May 18-19 as a part of the 25th Silver Jubilee celebrations of Yenepoya Medical College.

The men’s tournament would see a format where all departments of Yenepoya Medical College form teams and have an interdepartmental cricket tournament and inter-collegiate level tournament for women where they show their cricketing prowess.

The cricket tournament has its own special place and comes with many firsts. Among some of the highlights are that, it would be the first cricket tournament under floodlights, first tournament to have an IPL style format where players from other institutions can participate. This tournament aims to foster camaraderie among medical colleges and promote a healthy spirit of competition.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on May 18 and 19, 4 pm onwards at Yenepoya Soccer Ground on the theme ‘BEAT THE HEAT’ with an intention of planting a sapling for every six hit by the winning team. This tournament promises to be an exhilarating display of cricketing skill and athleticism which promises to be two days filled with excitement, sportsmanship and memorable moments.
