Udupi: Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza takes charge as new principal of SMES, Kannarpady

Udupi, May 18: St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady welcomed its new principal Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza on May 18. Fr Vijay D'Souza was escorted to SMES, Kannarpady campus by the priest and the parishioners of St John, the Evangelist Church, Pangla. He was offered a grand floral welcome at the entrance by the management, correspondent and the staff of St Mary's.

The formal programme commenced with a welcome dance performed by the students of the secondary section. Fr Johnson L Sequeira, hitherto principal presented the welcome note. A special prayer session was conducted by St Mary's teachers' choir to wish him good will and success. Later, he was officially welcomed through a floral felicitation. Fr Vijay D'Souza in his first speech as principal proudly expressed his happiness to join St Mary's family and stated that the journey of excellence at St Mary's can be accelerated to greater speed through the teamwork and collaborative efforts. Correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address briefly detailed the genesis, evolution and the value system of St Mary's.

Vice principal Rita Quadros, Fr Anil Castelino, Fr Alwyn Sequeira, editor of Uzvad, Fr Paul D'Souza, uncle of Fr Vijay D'Souza, Fr Roy Lobo, Maxim D'Souza, Benedicta Fernandes, the members of school management committee, staff and students were present on the occasion. The parents of Fr Vijay D'Souza and the parishioners of St John the Evangelist Church, Pangla graced the occasion. The programme ended with the school anthem.
