Kuwait: Body Building Show Puts Resort in Trouble

Kuwait, Oct 17: A resort in Al Jahra in Kuwait City is in trouble over a body building show that it allowed to be hosted in its premises. The show has apparently invited the ire of an MP who termed it scandalous and 'immoral'.

MP Mubarak Al Alwan called for strict action against the resort for giving permission for a show that had men dressed in scanty outfits which shocked and chased out many families who felt scandalised by the sight. The only ones that remained were three families who were relatives of those involved in the show.

"The authorities need to identify those behind this immoral act," he said. "The men's outfit was shocking and outrageous and the show was a scandal to the families that went to the resort to enjoy their weekend. All those associated with this deplorable event should be punished for violating the values and traditions of the Kuwaiti society and for breaking the guidelines of our religion," he said, quoted by Al Anba daily.

He went to say, "Our Kuwaiti society rejects any obscene behaviour and does not tolerate the scandalous outfits that the bodybuilders had. Several families were utterly shocked and left the area."

It was not him alone, but many other lawmakers who expressed outrage at the show.

However, the show continued after organisers promised that the participants would wear jeans and display only their chests and backs. In addition, the resort was asked to inform families in advance about the show.
