Mangaluru: Six including Fathima Ralia conferred with Swabhimani Book Award

Mangaluru, May 19: Swabhimani Book Award of 2023 instituted by Karnataka Vedike of Bengaluru, has been conferred on six people including youth writer Fathima Ralia.

Two people have been selected for Dr C Somashekhar and Sarvamangala Endowment award. The presentation ceremony will be held on May 31 in Bengaluru.

The works that have been selected for the coveted award are the translated book of Dr H S M Prakash ‘Nammantha Ballidaravaru’, travel story ‘Baba Sahebara London Maneyalli’ by Prof H T Pothe, compilation of stories of Fathima Ralia ‘Odeyalarada Odapu' and poetry compilation ‘Hosa Vilasada Hejjegalu’ by Santhosh Nayaka.

Dr C Somashekar and Sarvamanagala Endowment awards have been won by Indira Krishnappa's biography ‘Savitri Bapule’ and Dr M S Mani compilation of the prose ‘Gavi Marga’.

The award contains Rs 5,000 in cash and a citation. H L Pushpa, president of Karnataka women writers’ association, writers Dwaranakunte Patanna and Dr Satyamangala Mahadeva were the adjudicators.
