Bangalore: Yeddyurappa Fine, to be Back in Jail, Bail Plea Deferred

Bangalore, Oct 18 (Agencies): The Karnataka high court has deferred the bail plea hearing of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, arrested in connection with two corruption cases till October 20. He will be back in jail today as the doctors said that he had no heart ailment. Lawyers for the Bharatiya Janata Party

(BJP) leader filed two petitions in the court on Monday, one for interim bail and another for regular bail, and requested they be heard on Tuesday. Justice BV Pinto agreed to the request.

Though arrested on Saturday and sent to judicial custody till on October 22, the 68-year-old Yeddyurappa hardly spent a minute at the Bangalore's mail jail in Parappana Agrahara, an eastern suburb.

He was shifted from jail hospital early on Sunday to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research after he complained of chest pain.

The institute's director CN Manjunath has appointed a team of five doctors to monitor Yeddyurappa's health. An angiogram is likely to be conducted later on Monday to determine whether he has heart problems or is suffering from complications arising out of diabetics and blood pressure.

The former chief minister was arrested after special Lokayukta court judge N Sudhindra Rao declined bail on Saturday in two of the five cases corruption and illegal land deals filed against Yeddyurappa by two Bangalore advocates.

The advocates, Sirajin Bhasha and NK Balaraj, have charged Yeddyurappa, his two sons -- BJP Lok Sabha member BY Raghavendra and BY Vijayendra -- and son-in-law R Sohan Kumar of conspiracy to denotify government land in return for monetary gains.

Former state muzrai (endowments) minister SN Krishnaiah Shetty, BJP legislator Hemachanda Sagar and several others are also accused in the cases.

Rao has given conditional bail to all the accused, except Yeddyurappa and Shetty, who too has moved the high court for bail.

Whatever our top politicians do, irrespective of they are in power or not, we treat them with special respect whenever they visit Mangalore or any City. We even call them for special cultural programme For eg. we called Advaniji and Yeddiji for World Konkanni programme held in Mangalore. They are so special!!. Why we are getting boiled if they are treated in special way in Jail?

This is what exactly happened in the case of Hosni Mubarak of Egypt. His known accumulated wealth is 7 billion US dollars. While under arrest he too suffered from heart illness and was taken to court on a stretcher.

Yeddy must not be given BAIL @ any cost. These politicians are fit and fine during their tenure while the LOOT IS ON! Once they are convicted and sent to jail they suddenly develop all kinds of HEALTH PROBLEMS. This is the classic example of BSY's case.

It is hard time for jail management were we seen many VVIPS in the jail.Sure some improvement is seen in the jail infrastucture to accomodate the VVIPS in near future. The jail-hospital drama will be be seen some more time upto the grant of bail to the case.It is normal for any human being getting hyper tension when the decesion comes aganist you and it is hard to digest for yeddiji were he was CM sometime back and now as a criminal in the jail.

Harsh Malhothra, do not encourage corruption. Let BJP get going strong with only honest people. Let the exCM who made money for him and his family members using power and corrupt way may remain in jail along with Katta & reddys.

I would strongly recommend the CBI to put all ex Karnataka Govt. personnel like Katta, Reddy, Yeddy and others in a common accommodation so that they can plan well on their future moves.
