Karkala: Little Brave Heart Fights Python, Wins

Karkala: Little Brave Heart Fights Python, Wins

Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Oct 19: A boy on Tuesday October 18 showed presence of mind and bravery to rid himself of the vicelike grip of a python, near the town.

Sumant, a 9-year-old student of Pervaje government school and a resident of Kumbrapadavu on Tellar Road here, was on a visit to a thicket near his home along with his elder brother and a cousin, for grazing the buffalo on Tuesday morning. There was no one else at home, as the elders were busy with their daily chores. His father works in a hotel in Bangalore.

Unexpectedly, a python that was perhaps searching for food, coiled itself around the left leg of Sumant and began tightening its hold. Before he knew it, Sumant was on the ground. Sumant and the two boys with him raised an alarm, but it became futile as no one was in the vicinity. Sumant then fought with the python with his hands, and started kicking it with the help of his right leg. The python then released its grip and went away.

Sumant, who got treated at a hospital for minor injuries caused by the grip of the python and also as he had struggled on the ground to release himself, was told by the doctors that there was nothing to worry. Sumant, who was all smiles, looked as if nothing had happened.

Perhaps the fact that the family members had often sighted pythons in the area had given him the courage to fight it out without losing courage. Sumant feels that he had set his foot on the python, thinking it to be a piece of wood, as a result of which the python turned panicky and gripped his leg in an instant.

Great job my little friend! WoW quick presence of mind as a few mnts delay would hv changed the scenerio with tragic end. When so many muscular adults run away from plastic snakes and lizards, this brave but fragile looking child had the heart to wrestle with a python!! I would love to have him as my bodyguard on my trips to enjoy nature as he may be full of ideas. God bless him and keep him safe forever. My hugs.

Yes indeed good, sensible work of the boy.Although his presence of mind worked in really speaking he was caught in between survival and death. He fought all his might for his very survival. He might have not realized what would be the end.Even we would have done the same thing if we were in that critical situation.Luckily by His grace he has been saved and survived.thanks God.He should be appreciated for the way he fought single handedly without knowing the consequences.Well done Sumant.Brave Boy.Wish you all the best and May God in his lasting Mercy grant you a long life, health, wealth, happiness and bright future as well.At that point of time God only gave you a good sense, strength, courage to fight and free from the clutches of Python.Definitely God will help you to shine in your life one day.

It is one of the great things to have happened to this child. Surely this child should be recommended for bravery, even though it was to save his own life.

    Khudi(will power)ko kar buland itna,
    Ke har taqdeer se pehle,
    Khuda bande se khud puche,
    Bata teri raza kya hai...
The above lines are truly proved right by you boy...Whenever I workout in gym my coach constantly keeps repeating "Anything that doesnt kill you makes you even more stronger".God bless you boy...You totally deserve this life...
