Udupi, May 25: Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar has expressed deep concern and outrage regarding the recent gang war that unfolded in Manipal between two rival groups. He condemned the brazen display of violence in an area renowned for its educational institutions, stating that it reflects a concerning lack of fear among criminals towards the ruling government.
Sunil Kumar further criticized the state of law and order in Karnataka, asserting that the entire system has collapsed. He accused the Congress government of politicizing police stations and using them for personal vendettas, citing this as a clear failure of the home department and the home minister.
"I welcome Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Dakshina Kannada district. However, he has to answer certain questions before he leaves back to Bengaluru. When are you going to get resignation from the home minister who is unable to maintain law and order? When are you going to end the slavery of police stations to the present government? If there is a monthly extortion rate fixed between criminals and your government, what is the rate? Have you tied the hands of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi police? Is there any use of a government that is not able to control the peace of the public? Why are you scared to take action on the police officers who are unable to control the rowdyism of criminals? Within how many hours are you going to arrest the gangsters that were involved in the gang war at Manipal? Does your government, which sends a police team to arrest an MLA over trivial reasons, not have the guts to arrest criminals?" he questioned.
