Hassan, May 26: Tragedy struck near Echanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, when a drowsy driver collided the car with a truck, resulting in the car being completely crushed.

Among the occupants were three women, one child, and two men.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Hassan traffic police station, prompting Hassan District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Sujeta to visit the site. Rescue efforts were challenged as authorities worked hard to extract the bodies from the wreckage.

The family of six from Chikkaballapura was returning home after reportedly obtaining medicine for the child in Mangaluru. The fatal accident occurred in Nadde Manpara near Echanahalli during the early morning hours.

The vehicle involved belonged to Manoj Kumar. Chikkaballapur MLA Pradeep Eshwar urged Chikkaballapura District Superintendent of Police D L Nagesh and RTO officials to promptly determine the car's ownership and occupants' identities.
