Youth Commits Suicide in Delhi


New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS): A 21-year-old youth committed suicide at his east Delhi home early Wednesday, police said.

Rahul Verma, a resident of Vishwas Nagar, was found hanging from the ceiling in his room on the second floor.

A school dropout, Rahul came to the house drunk at around 3.30 a.m. His father, Kulbhushan Verma who is a retired Punjab National Bank official, opened the door for him.

After a few minutes when he went upstairs, he saw through the door that Rahul was trying to commit suicide, a police officer said.

"Rahul's father shouted, tried to persuade him, but the boy committed suicide," the officer added.

Police have not recovered any suicide note.
