Supreme Court Rejects Jayalalithaa Plea

New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS): In a setback to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, the Supreme Court Wednesday declined her plea and directed her to appear before a trial court in Bangalore to record her statement in a corruption case.

The apex court bench of Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice Dipak Misra directed her to appear before the court after Karnataka's chief secretary and director general of police told the court they have made all arrangements for her security.

Jayalalithaa had moved the apex court Tuesday seeking deferment of her appearance before the trial court till the last week of November. She said no suitable place with adequate security has been found yet for her court appearance.
