Taliban Hub to Host Peace Meet

Islamabad, Oct 20 (IANS): A peace conference will be held in the Pakistani city of Quetta, a known Taliban hub, with a view to promote religious harmony.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik said religious scholars and others from all over Pakistan and abroad will be invited to attend the conference.

The conference aims to "end sectarian hatred and violence", the official APP news agency quoted Malik as saying. It did not when the meeting would be held.

Quetta is widely considered as a stronghold of both the Pakistani and the Afghan Taliban battling American troops in Afghanistan.
