Kundapur, May 30: Shankernarayana police have registered a case against Santhosh Shetty, the father of a minor girl, Rajesh Shetty, her brother-in-law, and Bharath Shetty (37), the groom, in connection with the wedding of the minor girl.

The girl, who is 17 years and eight months old, was married to Bharath Shetty, a 37-year-old resident of Thombattu, at Lakshminarasimha Temple, Haladi Grama, at 8 pm on May 21. The girl's mother opposed the marriage and refused to admit her into the house afterward. Consequently, the groom took her to his residence in Thombattu.

Roopa, the assistant project officer of the Kundapur Infant Development Department, received a complaint regarding the minor's wedding. After conducting an investigation, Roopa lodged a police complaint at Shankernarayana police station. The police arrested all three accused men under the POCSO Act and remanded them to judicial custody.
