Puttur: Intra-departmental IT fest ‘Vision 2024’ valedictory ceremony held at St Philomena College

Puttur, May 30: The department of computer science and Pinnacle IT Club, of the college successfully organized the intra-departmental IT fest ‘Vision 2024’ on Wednesday, May 29 at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of St Philomena College.

The fest concluded with a valedictory ceremony and prize distribution programme, presided over by the college principal, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. In his address, Dr Monteiro emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities during college life. “Students can achieve success in life if they take advantage of all the opportunities available in college. Interacting with peers and participating in competitions contribute significantly to personal growth and learning. May the achievements of the prize winners lead to more milestones in your academic and professional journeys. Believe in your ability to learn and improve with every challenge and setback you face,” he remarked.

Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, vice principal of the college, participated as the chief guest. He highlighted the value of competitive spirit among students, stating, “Competitive spirit is important among students. Success comes from active participation in both curricular and extracurricular activities. Use the knowledge gained for the betterment of society, and accept both defeat and victory with equanimity.”

Farvez Akhtar, secretary of the Pinnacle IT Club, extended a warm welcome. Vice President Aditya Dinesh proposed a vote of thanks. The coordinator of Pinnacle IT Club, Soumya, announced the names of the prize winners, Brinda BG, a member of the executive committee of the Pinnacle IT Club, compered the programme. The Dean and HoD of Computer Science Mr Vinayachandra, Abhishek Kamath, President of the Pinnacle IT Club, were present on the dais.

The fest featured a diverse array of 15 competitions, including Documentary, Paper Presentation, Collage Making, Ideation, Hackathon, Code War, Website Design, Photography, Reminiscence, IT Model Design, Break the Query, IT Manager, Group Dance, Fashion Show, and E-Games. Esteemed judges for these competitions included assistant professors Varija M, Bharati S Rai, Prashant Rai, Dr Dimple Fernandes, Tejaswi Bhat, Jeslin D'Cunha, Poojashree V Rai, Khalandar Sharif, Akshata B., Suraksha S, Chaitra N P., Neelam Kuttappa, Rashmi V, Harshita K R, and Puneet Raj. Geethapoornima, assistant professor Department of Computer Science managed the event for the entire day with the support of the department members.

A total of 15 BCA teams participated in the fest. The Void Voyagers team, led by Shivprasad, secured the third prize, while the Wi-Fi Wizards team, led by Samridhi Shenoy, achieved the second prize. The overall title was won by the Network Knights team, led by Yashwin S C.
