Washington, May 31: In a dramatic turn of events, former US President Donald Trump's fundraising website, WinRed, temporarily crashed after a New York jury found him guilty of all 34 charges in the hush money criminal trial on Thursday.
The charges centered on allegations that Trump illegally influenced the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actor. Following the verdict, a surge of online activity ensued, with users searching for terms like ‘Donald Trump donation’ and ‘Donald Trump donation site’, leading to the crash of the WinRed platform, which Trump uses for his ongoing presidential campaign.
In response to the temporary outage, the Trump Campaign's official X handle posted, “So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trump's campaign that the WinRed pages went down. We are working on getting the website back online as quickly as possible."
As of now, the error message on Trump's donation page has been resolved. Trump, urging his followers to donate immediately after the verdict, began posting links to the campaign's website on his social media platform, Truth Social. However, the link, which redirected to the WinRed page, was initially not functioning properly.
