Udupi, May 31: George Menezes, Udyavar (84), retired bank manager of Syndicate Bank, passed away on Thursday, May 30.
He served as a manager in various branches like Surathkal, Shirva, Karwar, Gangolli, Kallianpur, Bajpe, Udupi Catholic Centre, and was the senior officer for about 35 years. George retired in 1997.
He is the husband of Congress leader and former taluk panchayat vice president late Irin Menezes.
He is the owner of J P Lights Udupi, director of Udyavar Friends Circle, vice president of St Francis Xavier Church pastoral committee and well recognized social worker in the society.
