Chikkamagaluru, May 31: Kannada actor and winner of Bigg Boss season 4, Pratham, showed full support and campaigned in favour of heart specialist and independent candidate for the Karnataka Legislative Council polls, Dr Nareshchand Hegde, in Chikkamagaluru.
Dr Hegde is contesting from the prestigious southwest teachers' constituency, with the election scheduled for June 3.
Actor Pratham visited various educational institutions in Chikkamagaluru and urged teachers to vote for Dr Nareshchand Hegde.
Dr Nareshchand Hegde aims to address the longstanding educational issues in the southwest teachers' constituency, which has previously seen politicians without degrees elected. He hopes to meet the expectations of educated voters who are looking for a capable leader from their own ranks, promising to bring about a positive change in the constituency.
Born into a distinguished family, Dr Hegde is the son of Dr Manoranjan Das Hegde, a well-known government doctor in Udupi. His wife, Saroja M Hegde, is a graduate and homemaker. Dr Hegde’s wife, Dr Jyothi Rao, is a respected pharmacology guide. Dr Hegde himself is a professor and heart specialist at K S Hegde Medical Academy, with a notable career spanning multiple prestigious institutions including Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and Rajarajeshwari Medical Institute, Bengaluru.
Dr Hegde has performed thousands of rare heart and organ surgeries, saving numerous lives. He has presented research theses nationally and internationally, participated in over 50 medical conferences, and published a significant research report on heart problems in a national journal. He also created curricula for BSc and MSc perfusion technology courses and served as a senate member of Mangalore University and president of KMC Irndocs Association.
