Lucknow, Oct 20 (IANS): A student was killed while 10 others were injured when their school van overturned in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district Thursday, police said.
The accident took place in Jaswantnagar neighbourhood. The speeding van carrying students of private school City Convent turned turtle after the driver applied the brake suddenly to avoid collision with another vehicle.
"While a 10-year-old student Vikas Yadav died on the spot, 10 students of primary classes suffered multiple injuries. Condition of at least three students is stated to be critical," police inspector Uttam Singh told reporters in Etawah, some 200 km from Lucknow.
The driver was absconding after the accident, he added.
