Bangalore: Lokayukta Court Directs Probe Against Home Minister R Ashok

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 20: The ruling Bharatiya Janatha party government seems to be plunging into more crisis, with Lokayukta court on Thursday October 20 directing Lokayukta superintendent of police to register a case against R Ashok on illegal denotification case, under section 156 (3) of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

With already four former ministers including former chief minister in jail, any further arrest could put the state government into deep embarrassment, political experts feel. The others in the jail are Janardhana Reddy, Katta Subramanyam, Krishnaiah Setty.

R Ashok, who is holding the powerful transport ministry along with the important home minister portfolio may be under pressure to resign from his post if chargesheet is filed.

It may be recalled that on Wednesday October 19,  Jayakumar Hiremath, an RTI activist, had filed a complaint accusing Karnataka home minister R Ashok of being involved in illegal denotification of about half an acre of land government land in Lottegollahalli in north Bangalore, causing an estimated loss of Rs 50 crore to the state exchequer.

Yeddyurappa too has been named in the complaint, as the denotification took place when he was the chief minister.

Hiremath in his complaint said the minister had allegedly denotified 9.12 guntas and 14 guntas (a gunta is 1/40 of an acre) of land belonging to Bangalore Development Authority in Lottegollahalli when B S Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister. Yeddyurappa is the second accused in the complaint.

Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao also directed Lokayukta SP to investigate the matter and submit a report on the issue by November 5.

Jossey Saldanha, Mangalore/Mapusa/ Mumbai What about the scam within your secular kangress in the central? What name we should give them? Dont come back with your comments stating that all the culprits within your secular kangress have put behind the bars. There are many people from your secular kangress roaming freely even after getting involved themselves in scams. The only difference with BJP and kangress is that when BJP people get involve in scam they dont know to hide themselves and as a result they are being caught, but when your secular kangress people get involved in scam they know to hide and show fingers on others because they have been doing that from last 60 years.

Ashok is from a constituency in Bangalore South, which was regarded as a stronghold of the Deve Gowda family. Gowda family may have held some 40 60X40 sites. It may be 40,000 square feet accumulated over years. In one illegal denotification act, perhaps R Ashok may have bought 2 to 3 acres for a pittance. That is why here we don't see Gowda family posters that much and see only the posters of "Samrat Ashoka" nowadays.
Perhaps it would be good to order a probe into the bus procurement of BMTC (Volvos to run in the congested roads in Bangalore) causing traffic jams and if better efficiency could have been achieved by small buses.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD NEWS WHICH HAS COME IN THE RIGHT TIME. WHEN THE EX-CM YEDDY HIMSELF WAS A CORRUPT AND CHOR PERSON HOW YOU CAN EXPECT HIS HOME MINISTER TO BE ? THAT IS WHY ASHOK WAS ALWAYS BEHIND YEDDY WHEREEVER YEDDY WENT AS A SECURITY GUARD. WHEN SUCH A HOME MINISTER IS THERE WHO IS CORRUT AND LOOTER LIKE HIS CM YEDDY WHAT LAW AND ORDER YOU CAN EXPECT ? IN BANGALORE DAY LIGHT OPENLY MURDERS AND UNWANTED THINGS ARE TAKING PLACE. BUT ASHOK IS BUSY WITH YEDDY AND GOWDA ROAMING BANGALORE AND VARIOUS TEMPLES TO SHOW HE IS VERY CLEAN. NOW I CAN SAY YEDDY'S ENTIRE MINITRY WAS CORRUPT AND ALL WERE INVOLVED IN LOOTING MINES AND LANDS. SO EVERYONE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BY LOKAUKTA SOON. NOW ASHOK ALSO WILL BE BEHIND BARS VERY SOON. CONGRATS ASHOK. ADVANI IS ON RATH YATRA TALKING ABOUT CORRUPTION AND EVERYDAY IN KARNATAKA BJP MINISTERS ARE GOING TO JAIL WITH CORRUPTION. ADVANI SHOULD WORRY ABOUT HIS MINISTERS CORRUPTION THAN UPA OR CONGRESS CORRRUPTION.

Its good to see people getting caught day after day, each and every corrupt minister should be caught....... Even though earlier govt's were also corrupt but at those days media was not so strong to hightlight these sort of deeds to local peoples mind...... I will be happy if locayukta digs to pre-BJP govts days also .

ministers are completely making use of democracy in the country, its better to have martial law, i.e presidents rule, instead of getting ruled by dogs in mangalore and karnataka.its a shame that karnataka is always in news for wrong doings.

A time came for one fellow long back , who is suffering from lymphoma. I dont know what medical condition this one will tell. One more flew from hospital to hospital and then to the jail hospital with a drips syringe on his hand, and all the great ministers in our state govt. went to see him including the head of the govt. crazy. If the head of the govt. goes to see an accused, protect him and shift him to a govt. hospital. why should we vote for these people ??? ladies and gentlemen, lets wake up before we become fools

THE RATH YATRA OF ADVANIJI WILL BECOME RAKT YATRA FOR BJP AS MORE BLOOD IS SHED BY IMPRISONING ONE MINISTER AFTER ANOTHER.

THIS IS CLEARLY A SIGN OF THE FALL OF BJP

THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SHEER SHAME TO ALL THESE LEADERS LOOTING KARNATAKA.

THESE LOOTERS MUST BE ALL PUNISHED.

WHY THEN BLAME UPA? NDA IS NOT ANY BETTER THAN UPA

    NDA PLAYERS ARE FOOLISH

    UPA ARE SMART

    THAT IS THE WHOLE DIFFERENCE.

Now it is clear that BJP lost moral right to rule Karnataka. The legitimacy of continuing is certainly in question. If by mistake R Ashok,Home Minister goes to Parapana Agrahara, then no doubt cabinet meeting would be in P.A.In center it is TIHAR and in the State it is PARAPANA AGRAHARA making waves in Indian politics. My immediate demand is R Ashok's resignation.Ishawarappa, might biting dust under given situation! A party with difference once assumed, turned to be party with full of corruptions......
