Mangalore: Three from Region to Represent Country at Commonwealth Ch'ship

Mangalore, Oct 20: In yet another sporting feat for the coast, Suprita from SDM College, Ujire, Akshata, from Alva’s college, Moodbidri and Vincent Prakash Carlo have been selected to represent the the country at the Commonwealth Unequipped Power lifting and Bench-press Championship-2011 to be held in London from December 15 to December 18.

While Vincent Prakash Carlo will be participating in the 'bench-pressing' category, Akshata and Suprita will be taking part in 'power-lifting'.

Suprita, Akshata and Vincent Carlo are expected to attend a 'Final Conditioning Coaching Camp' on Novemeber 27 to be held in New Delhi prior to the Championship.

Akshata, from Bola, is a final year student pursuing Masters in Human Resourse Development (MHRD) in Alva's College, Moodbidri. Supritha, from Mangalore, is a final year BCom student from SDM College, Ujire. Vincent Carlo, from Nantoor, here, works in the excise department of Mangalore.

Carlo has earlier taken part in several body-building, power-lifting and bench-pressing events and has also come second in the national-level selection trails of bench-pressing held at Jamshedpur.

Suprita has won the first place in South India Nationals in the junior-level of 72 kg held at Coimbatore.

    Congrats all trio, do the best and won medals, it was nice to see mangaloreans performing reality shows and winning Indans heart.
    Hope all three of u make India to shine on sports field by winning gold lifting weights Congrats and all the best
    Pls be aware that most of the weight lifters failed dope test and be careful about ur coaches and doctors

    Congratz Vincy......nice to see you in C.W.Championship.you are a great fighter and hardworking guy since from 8th std.Hope exercise department will give you a promotion as excercise inspector for this feet.As our indian cricketers alwyas get promotion and they dont even attend office like you do your duty.
