Mangaluru: 'Bhasha Sangam' national level conference held at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Jun 1: Bhasha Sangam 2024, a national level conference was organized by Milagres College. The topic for this year's conference was "The Influence of AI on Learning Across Languages."

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Melwyn Vas, principal of Milagres PU College, along with other dignitaries. The welcome speech was delivered by Carol Fernandes, who warmly greeted the participants and guests. Fr Michael Santhumayor, in his presidential address, highlighted the significance of the conference and its relevance in the current technological era.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr Alwyn Vincent Dsa, who emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in enhancing language learning and bridging linguistic gaps.
Following the inaugural session, parallel technical sessions began, each focusing on the impact of AI on different languages.

English technical session

Sarah Antonita Monis, the resource person for the English session, elaborated on the role of AI in advancing the proficiency and application of the English language. She discussed various AI tools and techniques that can aid in language learning and teaching.

Hindi technical session

Dr Sukanya Mary J, principal of Poorna Prajna Evening College, was the resource person for the Hindi technical session. She discussed the opportunities for the development of Indian languages under the national education policy, with a focus on Hindi.

Kannada technical session

Rathnakar Malamule, the resource person for the Kannada session, spoke on "Krathaka Budhimatheya Mulaka Kannada Abhijatha Kavyagala Maruodhu" (The evolution of classical Kannada literature through Artificial Intelligence). Her presentation highlighted the potential of AI in preserving and promoting classical Kannada literature.

Konkani Technical Session

Royal Praveen D’Souza, the resource person for the Konkani session, provided insights on "Konkani Chi Vadaval Ani Krathak Budvanthgay" (The development of Konkani and Artificial Intelligence). His talk focused on the growth and preservation of Konkani language with the help of AI technologies.

The valedictory ceremony was held at 12.30pm Dr Ratan T, Mohunta was the chief guest.

Anson from III BCom hosted the programme and Denson from III BCom compeered.

The successful organization and active participation in Bhasha Sangam 2024 highlighted the growing interest and need for integrating AI in language learning and preservation. In total 10 papers were presented.
