Puttur: Farewell Day celebration ‘Adios Amigos’ held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Jun 1: The Department of Computer Science at St Philomena College organized a heartfelt farewell event, 'Adios Amigos', on Saturday, June 1, at the SJM Hall of the college.

The highlight of the occasion was the honouring of Arpitha K, who secured the 3rd rank(BCA) in the Mangalore University rxaminations 2022-23.

Vinaya Chandra, dean and head of the Department, delivered the introductory remarks, reflecting on the achievements and future prospects of the outgoing students. Mrs Geethapoonima Asst Professor in the department gave a touching felicitation speechwhile honouring Arpitha K. Outgoing students Vipul Dung Dung,Samruddhi Shenoy and Brinda shared their experiences and opinions. As a token of gratitude, the outgoing students presented a gift to the college, which was handed over to the Principal on the occasion.

Principal rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, in his presidential speech, emphasized the importance of multitasking and resilience in facing life’s challenges. He encouraged students to be useful to their families, communities, and the institution. Referring to the gift from the students, he reiterated his appeal for support on the furniture project of the college and invited final-year students to consider joining St Philomena College for their MCA. He also highlighted the important role students play in the vibrancy and success of an institution and urged them to be useful wherever they go in the world.

Vice principal of the college Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar and Sowmya, class advisor of III BCA were gracefully present on the dais.

In the formal program Praapthi Rai and team rendered prayer. Uma Padmanabh warmly welcomed. Anusha Bhargavi proposed a vote of thanks. The event was compered by Disha Pearl Mascarenhas. The day featured cultural programs by both outgoing and junior students and fun games were organized for the outgoing students, making “Adios Amigos” a memorable and meaningful farewell celebration.
