Mangaluru, Jun 2: Residents of Surathkal area will face a temporary disruption in their drinking water supply as maintenance work is scheduled for a crucial water pipeline.
The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) relies on the Thumbay dam for supplying drinking water to the city. However, a 900 MM diameter pipe responsible for pumping water to the Panambur area requires urgent attention. As a result, refixing work is slated to take place from Kottara Chowki to Goldfinch grounds.
Consequently, there will be no drinking water supply from 6 am on Monday, June 3, until 6 am on Tuesday, June 4, as per the announcement by the MCC.
The affected areas include Surathkal, Katipalla, NITK, MCF, Kapikad, Kulur, Jalligudde, parts of Kavoor, parts of Kodikal, Pacchanady, Ashoknagara, Derebail, Kulai, Mukka, and Panambur.
Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements to manage their water requirements during this period. This maintenance work is essential to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of the water supply system in the region, according to a MCC statement.
