Sullia: Elderly woman killed due to snake bite

Sullia, Jun 3: An elderly woman died from a snake bite at Harihara Pallathadka in the taluk on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Devamma (67), a resident of Kallemata in Pallathadka village.

Devamma was cleaning the area around the cow shed on Sunday morning. When she put her hand inside a basket where a hen was laying eggs, a cobra bit her. She was rushed to a nearby herbal doctor and later taken to Sullia Hospital.

However, she succumbed to the bite on the way. It is reported that besides Devamma, only her granddaughter was at home when the incident occurred.
