12 Pilgrims Killed in Bengal Accident


Kolkata, Oct 21 (IANS): Twelve pilgrims going to Puri in Orissa were killed and 14 injured when their bus was hit by an oil tanker in West Bengal's West Midnapore district in the early hours of Friday, police said.

An officer manning the state police control room here said the Haldia-Puri tourist bus had halted at Debra when it was struck by the tanker moving at high speed.

The dead included eight women.

The injured have been admitted in serious condition at the Midnapore Medical College and Hospitals and the state-run SSKM hospital in Kolkata.
