Mangaluru, Jun 3: Centuries ago Kannada theatre was rich enough to provide entertainment using real camels and elephants in the company plays. Today, using simple techniques plays are set to engage the audience. But now, Kalabhi Association, Mangaluru is going to recreate and remind the spectators of the old tradition. Team Kalabhi is all set to bring real elephants on the stage in Mangaluru.

An extraordinary play, 'A Friend Beyond the Fence' has created a new sensation in Kannada theatre. An elephant of the same size and as live as the real one will perform on the stage of Mangaluru town hall. Learning the Bunaraku puppet show technique of Japan and including skilled artists, the play has attracted a huge audience by its excellent staging, wonderful music, and many special techniques and special lightings.

In its first two performances, the play has successfully attracted a large audience. The drama which has made the stalwarts go crazy is once again set to serve the people of Mangalore. The play is going to be performed on Sunday, June 9 at Mangaluru town Hall at 7pm. The head of the team, Ujwal U, has requested the art lovers to participate in large numbers and encourage the team for their outstanding efforts.
