Karunanidhi Likely to Meet Kanimozhi in Jail

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS): DMK chief M. Karunanidhi is Friday likely to meet his daughter and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi who is imprisoned in Tihar Jail here since May for her alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

The 88-year-old former Tamil Nadu chief minister and his wife Rajathi with grandson Adithya are likely to meet Kanimozhi, according to party sources.

"They are scheduled to leave Chennai by 5 p.m today (Friday) and they might meet her in the late evening. The reason for the sudden visit may be to greet her for Diwali as she has been jailed for over five months," a party source told IANS.

Sources from Tihar Jail said the meeting is not yet confirmed.

Kanimozhi has been denied bail and is in Tihar since May 20.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court will pronounce its order on framing of charges in the 2G spectrum allocation scam Saturday.

The court will resume hearing on the bail applications of various accused in 2G spectrum allocations, including that of Kanimozhi, from Monday.
