Udupi, Jun 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Center, Bengaluru, have issued a yellow alert for Udupi district from June 3 to June 8.
Due to the forecast of heavy rain in the coastal region of the state for the next five days, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued the following precautionary measures for the public:
- District and taluk officials, designated nodal officers, and local disaster management committees must be compulsorily present and prepared to handle any disasters.
- The public should avoid entering rivers, waterlogged areas, and the sea, and should remain in safe locations during thunderstorms.
- Children and the public are advised to stay away from dangerous electric poles, buildings, and trees. People living in low-lying areas should move to safer locations.
