Mangaluru: Mount Carmel organises orientation programme for parents

Mangaluru, Jun 3: Keeping in mind, that education is a joint venture between the school and parents, an opportunity was given to the parents to peep into the functioning of the scholastic year and to get them acquainted to the teachers on June 1.

The programme for the kindergarten commenced invoking the blessings of the almighty. The administrator Sr Carissima accorded a heartfelt welcome and wished them on the occasion of global parent’s day.

 

The UKG Teachers spoke on literacy, numeracy and EVS. They briefed about the set goals and the measures taken to achieve these goals in the academic year. The LKG Teachers also briefed the parents on areas of learning and also on art, craft and play. The nursery teachers updated the parents about the early learning stage on communication, language, literacy, numeracy and EVS.

Teacher Sumana spoke on holistic education and holistic assessment giving an insight that apart from reading, writing and arithmetic other areas such as social, emotional, communication, health and hygiene are also a part of holistic evaluation.

Teacher Shyla oriented the parents on the day’s activities of the children in a nutshell and touched on the areas of discipline, responsibility, punctuality, health and hygiene. This was followed by an interactive session between the parents and the teachers.

Teacher Neetha emceed the programme and teacher Sumana delivered the vote of thanks.

The next session was for the parents of grade 1 and 2 as well as the newcomers of grade 3 to 8.

The event commenced with a prayer led by teacher Jenita. Welcoming the gathering, Tr. Poornima extended warmth and gratitude to all parents for their presence. Tr. Jyotsna further navigated a comprehensive overview of the school through a video presentation.

Following this, Tr. Reshma meticulously outlined the school's rules and regulations, ensuring clarity for all in the audience. Sr. Supreetha and Tr. Jyotsna, further enriched the gathering on assessments for grades 3 to 8.

Tr Jacqueline acknowledged the invaluable participation of parents through the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a special session by Tr. Neesha, for parents of grade 1 and 2, delving into the new evaluation system and holistic progress card introduced by CBSE under NCF. Tr. Sujatha Lobo emceed the programme.

As the school looks forward to the academic year 2024-25, it embraces a journey brimming with nurturing dreams and fruitful endeavours.
