Puttur, June 4: Inauguration of the new academic year " Philo Aarambh" was held at St Philomena P.U. College, June 3. The programme began with an invocation through a graceful prayer song followed by lighting the lamp. The president, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent, Mai De Deus educational institutions advised students not to be narrow minded, have faith in God and respect parents.

The chief guest, A Jagajeevandas Rai, retired assistant manager, Vijaya Bank advised students to be the masters in their language. He motivated students not to be lazy instead to work hard , exhibit their talent and to show their creativity and ability. Gerald D'Costa, vice president, parish pastoral council encouraged students to work hard and make the best use of the time. Prathima Hegde, president, alumni association advised students to focus on the overall development.

On this special occasion 3 rank holders and 190 distinction holders along with Apoorva, SSLC topper were felicitated. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal, St Philomena P.U. college addressed the students on how this new beginning is an opportunity to reflect and work with a new sense of purpose. He boosted the students with the motivated line, "Strong desire and hard work leads to success".

The programme was organized by the convenors of the student council Prashanth Bhat, Dept of chemistry and Philomena Monteiro, Dept of commerce.
Philomena Monteiro, faculty of commerce welcomed the gathering. Rekha, Dept of electronics proposed vote of thanks. Suma D, Dept of English compered the programme.
