Mangalore, Oct 21: The silver jubilee celebration of Dr M V Shetty College of Nursing (1987-2011) was inaugurated at St. Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, Bendore here on Friday October 21.

A national conference on evaluation of nursing was also held on the occasion. Dr Sriprakash K S, vice-chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, the chief guest launched the celebrations by unveiling the silver jubilee emblem. Addressing the gathering he said that dedication, leadership qualities and commitment has brought the institution to greater heights.



Nursing teaches worth of human life filled with dignity. There has been tremendous demand globally for nursing professionals from Karnataka state in particular, he adds.
 
He further said that in complaints received by him with regard to the ‘bond system’ wherein some institutes make their students to work in their own institution compulsorily which is against norms of the colleges may cost a lot to such colleges as they may get de-affiliated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. He also said that accreditation of medical and dental colleges are under process.

B N Muninarayanappa, registrar, Karnataka state nursing council, Bangalore inaugurated the national conference. Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, secretary, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust, Mangalore presided over the programme.

Dr Hima Urmila Shetty welcomed the gathering. Welcome dance performed by the group of students drew attention of the audience as importance of hands in different aspect of life including nursing profession was elaborated beautifully. Prof B V Kathyayani, principal of the college delivered the vote of thanks.
