Mangalore, Oct 22: As part of the state wide protest against the state government’s failure in providing electricity to the public, the district unit of the Congress held a torchlight procession in front of the MCC building here on Friday October 21.

MLA U T Khader said that the first two years saw the coalition government of the BJP and JD(S) and now the BJP government is just passing days with mere assurances.

“The state government has not made any sincere efforts to produce electricity and is instead blaming the central government for the same. This is condemnable,” Khader said.

KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza, leaders Mithun Rai, Santhosh T K Sudhir, Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot Pinto, Gretta Rebello, Praveenchandra Alva, Nagendra Kumar, Bhasker Moily, and Gulzar Banu participated.

The torch light procession was taken out from Lalbagh, TMA Pai Hall and culminated at MCC.

Dear Fundoo Mr. Nagesh Nayak, Bangalore In your previous comments you have commented that in Karnataka bjp under the leadership of Mr. Yeddyurappa's tenure 24 hour power supply. Where is 24 hour power supply. Do any psuedo's write comments that during congress rule there was 24 hour power supply? Show me. All the bjp states should not be provided with power supply because they fought tooth and nail against civilian nuclear power in the parliament just to grab power. People have witnessed NDA rule of 5 years was the worst in the history of India.

Till Eswarappa was the power minister of Karnataka some good progress was seen , Projects like UPCL were given a boost and he also tried to encourage new projects......after he has left the position there is very less progress in Power projects and state is suffering with an acute shortage of power.........I think if the imported coal price issues are sorted out there should be some more power generation projects that could be envisaged in the state based on low sulphur coal. Projects based on gas could be planned in Belgaum wherein the proposed GAIL natural gas line running from Dhabol - Blore via Belgaum .......this will also balance the grids on the western side. Govt. should be actively involved in faster clearances for these projects.

BJP Government is in total disarray. Most of their top leaders are involved in CORRUPTION and few are already in JAIL. If only Congress and JD(S) unite and fight – BJP will disappear from Karnataka.

Passing the BUCK, rather than addressing the crisis is politicians' tantra.
Mescoms & Hescoms are den of corruption & mis-management- throughout its history. How can u expect them to be efficient with in-charge ministers always being misled causing huge losses in procurement & implementation of schemes lining their pockets-instead of improving the power scenario.
Electricity Lokpal to monitor & implement feasible projects with eco-friendly, renewable energy sources can only turn the situation from worse to good.
    Are our Reps, listening?
