Mangaluru: MSNIM launches mission life in association with MRPL on World Environment Day

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 6: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) observed World Environment Day on June 5, by planting saplings on the institute campus in Bondel. Ganesh Bhat, IFS, chief vigilance officer of MRPL, was the chief guest. Ajith Kamath, chairman of the CII Mangaluru chapter and governing council member of the Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided over the programme.

Laxmish Bhat, GM (vigilance); Manish Gupta, senior manager (corporate communications) of MRPL; Victor Menezes, assistant manager (corporate communications); Hemagiri Angady, range forest officer of the Mangaluru region; and other forest department officers were present on the occasion.

The programme marked the launching of the government of India’s ‘Mission LiFE’ (Lifestyle for environment) programme’ in association with MRPL. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of saying no to single-use plastics among the youth of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Addressing the gathering, Ganesh Bhat emphasised the value of the environment and encouraged the younger generation to take responsibility for its protection. “The environment is a precious resource that belongs to the commonwealth. Unfortunately, it is overused and exploited. When we try to protect it, we often do not take ownership. Synthetic textiles and plastic are two major pollutants, harming landfills and water bodies, and affecting all living creatures,” he said.

Ajith Kamath, who presided over the programme, stressed the importance of implementing environmental sustainability governance (ESG) in various industries. He called for better integration of humans with the environment for a sustainable future.

Institute director, Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, welcomed the gathering. MBA student Aparna Shenoy delivered the vote of thanks, and Sharanya G K served as the programme anchor. Associate professor Dr Reema Agnes Frank coordinated the event.
