Kundapur, Jun 7: The desilting work of Shedthikere lake on Nana Saheb Road within the Kundapur Municipality limits has been left incomplete, causing widespread anger among local residents.

Initially, the residents were pleased when the municipality began the desilting process at the end of the summer. However, the work has progressed very slowly. Trees and shrubs around the lake were cut down and left scattered around. Despite a week passing, the desilting work has not resumed. Authorities kept postponing the work, promising to start "tomorrow", which never arrived.

The felled trees and debris have been left unattended for over a week, causing them to decompose and emit a foul odor. The additional waste in the lake is contributing to pollution and turning the area into a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

More than 10 houses surround the lake, and there is an Anganwadi nearby. This residential area is increasingly frustrated with the incomplete work and the dumping of debris into the lake.

With the onset of the rainy season, further delays in the lake's development could lead to it filling with water, spreading pollution and creating additional problems. Residents are anxious about these potential issues and are demanding that the lake's development be completed as quickly as possible.
