Mangaluru, Jun 7: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) has announced its annual competitions, which include singing, elocution, dance, and poetry recitation. The events will commence in June and culminate in September.

Celebrating the glory of 60 consecutive years of organizing the singing competition, KNS has decided to introduce a new category for senior citizens (60 years and above). Additionally, two new competitions, 'Gumta Podam' (singing while playing the Gumot, a traditional Konkani musical instrument) and skit, have been added. The regular fancy dress and Vovyo-Verse competitions have been dropped this year.

The singing competition will feature three categories: solo, duet, and group. It will consist of three rounds. Winners of the auditions and the first round, held in Mangaluru, Udupi, and Mumbai respectively, will advance to the grand finale. The finale, along with an entertainment extravaganza hosted by KNS, will take place at Don Bosco Hall on September 15, starting at 9:30 AM.

Mumbai auditions, in association with Konkan Association Charitable Trust (R), Mumbai, will be held on June 30 at St. Thomas Church Hall, near the railway station in Goregaon.

In Udupi, auditions will be held on Sunday, July 7, at Ave Maria Hall, Mother of Sorrows Church, starting at 2 PM sharp.

In Mangaluru, auditions for children will be held at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, July 21, at 2 PM sharp. Auditions for elders will take place at the same venue on Sunday, July 28.

The second round of the singing competition will be held on Sunday, August 25.

Participants can enter the competitions as individuals or groups, forming their own teams. Groups can consist of members from multiple parishes.

The final rounds of the singing and Gumta Podam competitions will be exclusively telecast on Daijiworld TV in episodes. Daijiworld.com and Daijiworld TV are the media partners for the event.
