Bangalore: Four-fold Blessing - Woman Gives Birth to Quadruplets

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 23: For perhaps the first time in Bangalore, a 21-year-old woman has given birth to quadruplets at a private hospital in the city.

The woman, Nafeesa and her husband Saifulla became parents of two boys and two girls on Friday October 21.

All the babies and the mother are healthy, sources at Cloud Nine Hospital in Jayanagar said.

The babies were born with a space of one-and-a-half minutes, and weigh between 1.03 kg and 1.35 kg. All of them are under observation.

The couple hail from Adanapalle in Andhra Pradesh, and came to Bangalore for the delivery of the babies as it was a risky case.

Dr Leela Bhagwan, senior consultant obstetrician at Cloudnine Hospital, said that the mother came to know she was carrying quadruplets a few months ago. The couple already have a child.

The babies were naturally born, which makes the case even more rare.

Wow so cute. Hope the young parents have some help. Loved the picture where the older sister is carefully trying to touch them - she will soon have to be a "Mini Mom" as she will have a full fledged nursery at home. May god bless the parents and kids with good health and loads of happiness.

Further to what Mr. Kumara said,

A human body takes upto 20 years of age to develop fully. If a woman conceives before this age, she must provide nutrients in 150% more than her usual consumption i.e. for the growth of the fetus and her own development.

Obviously its not possible to eat more than twice our eating capacity so you can understand the result of an underage pregnancy. Though we can't keep our girls un-married till full developmental age, what they both can manage is avoiding pregnancy until 20 years. This is with social and economical interest of our country.

A healthy delivery is obviously a reason to celebrate but a baby weighing below 1.5 Kg has many problems in life relating to anemia and other issues related to mental/physical development. Let us hope all will be well with the couple and their children.

Assuming their first daughter is about 3 years old, it is obvious that the lady was married before 18 years. To me that is worrisome more than the quadruplets. Not sure if we have any minimum prescribed age limit for marriage in India and whether it is applicable for the country as a whole irrespective of religion etc.
