Mangalore, Oct 23: St Theresa's School in Bendore here was targetted by unidentified miscreants in the wee hours of Sunday October 23.

Three people came on a bike and pelted stones at St Theresa's statue at the school. Though the statue remained intact, its fibre glass covers were damaged.

The incident took place between 4 and 4.30 am. The watchman at the school Subramanya heard the miscreants and stone pelting, but when he rushed to stop them, they fled the scene.

A window of the school has been damaged. The school has two watchmen who work on shifts. Subramanya was on the night shift.

Along with Sr Premitha, vice-principal Sr Anitha Menezes and School secretary Sr Rose Celine arrived at the spot at 6.30 am.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sr Premitha, principal of the school said that she felt bad about the attack on the educational institution, which was running for a cause. "The incident is unexpected as there were no threats or any reason for the act," she said, adding that she hoped the culprits would be caught very soon by the police.

A complaint has been filed in Kadri police station. Sr Premitha in her statement put the loss at Rs 10,000.

Police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh arrived on the spot and conducted preliminary investigation.

This is the fourth such attack on the school. In 2007 the school was targetted twice, and once again in 2009.

Ashok Udipi/Dubai. Those parents who do not like that statue in front of that school can take their children and put them in another school, No one is stopping them. Communal minded people lshould be sent out from India for instigating and supporting criminal and communal activities.

Dear Ashok, Udupi/Dubai. We live in Republic Democratic India where every Indian has a free will do as per the Constitution.

What St. Theresa School Mangalore erected St Theresa's statue is it Constitutional nor unconstitutional? If they have acted as per the Indian constitution, why it has to irritate you and why it has to create frustration to yourself.

Every parent, children are free to get their admission to any school or educational Institutions.

Instead of u condemning the act of stone pelting to the School St. Theresa Statue, u are commenting very pessimistic way. This shows your brainwashed mind set against some community.

For your kind information India is Secular, democratic Country not fanatic. Thank God to the media, due to media, the young generation have lost taste to religion blackmailing tactic and they concentrate on their personality development,TV reality show, dance competition etc.

Its amusing to see people pelt stones at each other in the name of religion. The matter at hand here is Destruction of property. Being a catholic institution does not justify the actions of these miscreants. Seriously, no religion on earth condones violence! If you think it does, you are highly mistaken.

Law and Order situation is worst in Karnataka under BJP rule. The people of karnataka have lost the respect and some people are behave like animals. It is high time the centre impose president rule and then call for a election at a appropriate time when there is real peace and harmony. If the police donot act now, I feel there is even greater danger to the society. This communal based incidents takes place just because the government is higly corrupt.

It is a simple agenda but many of you will find it annoying. The Old Man is reaching Mangalore even though the Gabbar of Karnataka sholay is in Jail. The event sponsors are trying their best to attract more crowds by creating such insane act and they will go to any extent to see that more people are present at Mangalore while the Chariot passes through. May God Bless the chariot and the followers.Crores of tax payers money is spent every day on this yatra for the police and commandos who are appointed to save our nation from terror. Unfortunately they are assigned to guard an Old man who is not sure of anything after 2014 LS elections.

We all mangaloreans should stand united and face these cowardly goons. They can only attack weak or calm people but will run away if confronted. Urva Marigudi incident in the recent past has shown the real colour of these goons.

This heinous cowardly act is being repeated again and again only with the intention to polarize people on the basis of religion. This is being organized by pseudo nationalists who go to any extent to break the unity of mangaloreans for their political survival.

This may be one of the diversion tactics from the real problems and cash on emotional religious sentiments.

But I am sure that they will not succeed in dividing the mangalorean society on the basis of religion.

Hello my fellow readers what I observed from the posts/comments in this column was some are really constructively/wisely commenting and some are without any brain commenting baseless in destructive/provocative manner, which is very bad.In the above case I do agree that whoever has done or committed this inhumane/criminal act to the educational institution like this are real cowards/criminals and very very bad and sad episode.I am wondering how lame people like us without knowing the facts and being far away from the scene sitting at home or away/abroad can judge/pass comments/or express our views/opinion only on speculation/guess work even before the real truth is being established after police investigation/inquiry?Whatever the motives behind this criminal act, might have been committed by any political parties for their political gains, organizations, criminals, goondas, drunkards or even by mischievous students, blaming any political parties, blaming one another and pointing fingers at others is of no use, which again a uncultured attitude.Wait till the truth is established. It is general tendency whatever happens in any corner of the globe people start to jump at once and pass comments erratically without any base, may be just to gain mileage or to appear their name in this column.Patience/tolerance is the greatest weapon in our life to overcome all our obstacles/hurdles of our life.Don't worry,be happy.

In all religion there are terrorists, you name them green or saffron.. so you cant blame or maligin one particular religion... its because of bad teachings and ill founded ideologies and corrupt practices by your gurus, mullahs, mukris or priests or swamis... Those who live by sword shall die by sword... Love is the slogan that can bring about changes and changes that last long and eternal....

A very cowardly act done. I am sure the gods can take care of themselves. whoever has done he will face the consequences. These acts are done by people to create choas among peacfully living society in the name of religion. The real culprits will never be booked. Instead the police since independence will blind fold and produce some paid criminals just to suppress the public. If they show the victims face then the society at large will know those are not the culprits.. Thats why u see always criminals heads are covered. The common man always suffered. A situation similar to tunisia, algeria and libya is on the cards. Till then lets sail with the wind. Poor getting poorer, rich getting richer. THE STAGE IS ALL SET.

Until and unless the police is not serious about
Finding the organisations and leaders behind such politically affiliated miscreants targeting religious places,
Not punishing these goondas due to political pressure though they have committed such serious vandalism that have disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of different religious people and the places of worship,
Not arresting all those connected to the crime in time as well as charge-sheet them with serious section of IPC in the FIR (which is the core document),
If not bring a stop to releasing these goons and their leaders under the political, money and muscle power,
Until the political leaders who are behind such acts who always escape the legal action is not be brought to book
I fear these rouges will become more boulder and attack more places of worship without any fear

I have a question to all readers and BJP supporters... why there is no communual harmony in BJP ruled states?? Why the minorities places of worship are continually targetted?? Why the perperators of the crime are not booked and punished???? What the govt is doing to stop these activities???Whats the hidden agenda of BJP rule??? Whats the views of RSS on these church attacks??? Why the govt is not protecting the places of worship of all communities???

But one thing everyone in this forum and outside has to remember that God is great and He knows everything.. His punishment is unique and noone can escape His wrath....If something happens to our state, please dont attribute the reason as natural calamities, but see it as Gods heavy handedness on sinners and wrong doers... Oh Lord pardon us and show us your mercy and let not your anger befall on us... We beg for your compassion and guidance and your guidance to those who are misled and misguided. Show them your light, your path, path that leads to your happiness and ultimate victory... amen..

Well said Praveen Kumar. Here most of the commentators are educated, but definately not intelligent enough to comment as they are commenting thinking. The unidentified miscreants definately know that if something goes wrong the blame with go to organizations like BD/BHP/RSS first. So it's better not to blame anyone until the truth comes out. I am not the supporter of any organization, but the miscreant once caught should be severly punished whoever it is either from BJP or congress.
