Beltangady, Jun 11: In a shocking incident that came to light at Gardady on June 10, the heads of 25 goats were found severed and placed in front of a gate, along with photographs of 25 people, in connection with a longstanding land dispute between two individuals.
It has been revealed that on the night of June 9, the goats' heads were severed, and photos of 25 local people were placed as part of a black magic ritual at Boliyar in Padangadi village of the taluk. Laborers who arrived to work on the land discovered the scene on the morning of June 10.
The landowner resides in Kerala. Therefore, the supervisor overseeing the land filed a complaint at the Beltangady police station. The police arrived at the scene and gathered the necessary information. The local villagers are in a state of panic due to the black magic ritual.
The 60-acre land was bought last year by Rajesh Prabhu, an entrepreneur and owner of a transport company, from Gopa Kumar and Sumesh, natives of Kerala. It has been revealed that Prabhu did not pay the agreed price of Rs eight crore for the land after obtaining the sale deed in his name. Despite several rounds of talks, the issue remained unresolved. Gopa Kumar and Sumesh, the original owners of the land, filed a private complaint in the Beltangady court.
The court has maintained status quo in its order.
