Man Held for Rape in Delhi Hotel


New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS): A travel agency's salesman was arrested for sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman at a hotel in south Delhi Sunday afternoon, police said.

The incident was reported around 2.10 p.m. from Vasant Kunj, when police received a call from the woman who claimed that she had been raped.

The police rushed to the hotel and the accused, identified as Khem Krishna Mitra, was arrested, said police.

The victim, a resident of Buddh Vihar in west Delhi who works as a sales executive, has alleged that the man called her to his hotel room and then raped her, said police officer.

"A medical report of the victim confirmed rape following which we registered a formal case and arrested the accused. The accused is a native of Nimaj in Madhya Pradesh and was on a tour to Delhi," said a police officer.
