‘Are we living in Kashmir’: Ashoka slams state govt over handling of actor Darshan case

Bengaluru, Jun 13 (IANS): Karnataka Leader of the Opposition (LoP) R. Ashoka on Thursday slammed the state government for handling the murder case involving the Kannada actor Darshan and his associates.

“Since there is no law and order in the state, the government is fearful. That is the reason why they have put ‘Shamiyanas’ in front of the police station. Are we living in Kashmir or is Karnataka a border area? Don’t our state police have the capacity to investigate a simple murder case,” LoP Ashoka said.

Bengaluru Police have covered the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station with a ‘Shamiyana’ allegedly to prevent media coverage and have also imposed prohibitory orders within 200 meters of the police station.

Actor Darshan along with his 16 associates are being accused of murdering one of the actor’s fans namely Renukaswamy, who was apparently unhappy with Darshan’s second marriage.

The LoP said that taking the law into one’s own hands is condemnable. “No one is above the law. This incident is a black mark on the film industry. Renukaswamy could have been warned and sent away. The murdered person did not have any criminal background. Action must be taken against the guilty,” LoP Ashoka said.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also said that no one has the right to treat others inhumanely. “Whether a celebrity or a VIP, all are equal before the law. This is a serious case and the initial proactive role of the police should continue throughout the investigation,” he said.

Karnataka Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Eshwar Khandre, has also condemned the murder of Renukaswamy, saying that he is confident that the guilty will be punished.

“The government stands firmly with the deceased family,” said the Minister.

Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha (ABVM) has also demanded harsh punishment against the culprits.

“The government should not succumb to any influence and not protect the guilty. The government must stand with the common man. If there is any negligence in the investigation, the Mahasabha will initiate a state-wide agitation. The victim's family must be compensated,” ABVM said.

In India these kinds of murder and rape are common by high level people. India is still third world country regarding law and order. Must learn from developed countries however powerful you are they are punished.

This is why we should have a culture of not giving more importance to film stars. On daily basis we read about stars and after seeing their movies we start loving their acting and eventually we become diehard fans. So people watch movies and detach yourself.

I also saw the Shamiyana in news channels. Think it is the first time in Karnataka Police History! One not in know, would think that it is a marriage party inside!Paramu is making faces like " ಇಂಗು ತಿಂದ ಮಂಗಾ ". Immudi Dum Dum Siddaraya in any case last term. Another Pressure Cooker mischief case likely to be converted into this one. Useless fellows. What did I tell the other day?In any case, I tell you all if these people botch the case, the curse of the poor parents and wife will be on all concerned.

Bhandary, Neither Karnataka police burnt the body of the victim, like bjp Yogi police did in Hathras rape case, Nor garlanding the murderers like modi Gujrath model . Now investigating is going on. Siddharamaya police are capable of resolving all crimes

The actor's advocate has said that the marks of injury on the murdered parson are of dogbite and he died due to it. Now authorities will catch all the dogs in the area and send thier poop for DNA testing and at the end one poor dogy will be hanged to death, though they know that the body was taken in a four wheeler and poor fourlegged dogy cannot drive a four wheeler. That is how the system works. The actual murderer will get bail and walk out in two months time.

Devil preaching the scriptures. You invoke law and constitution only to frame charges against your opponents but when you are caught red handed no law and no constitution applies to you. BTW, even Kashmir is illegally ruled by you and you are indirectly finding fault in Kashmir administration and incompetent rule where terrorists are are given free hand by the govt.

Why you comparing kashmir and karnataka?. Why in kashmir still terrorists are killing people?. As per modi and your feku team the terrorists are afraid. Now you talk about law and order and police of karnataka. Why when your government was there any other police force or law ?. The same police protected you as a minister.
