Udupi, Jun 14: The Santhekatte Mount Rosary School Parliament was inaugurated recently in a ceremony that highlighted the importance of leadership and service.

Dr Disha Karker, a dentist and former student of the school, inaugurated the event. In her address, she stated, “Constantly striving to unite everyone for a common purpose, the mark of a great leader is continuous dedication to service. It is said that the duty of a minister or legislator is to serve. The school committee serves as an excellent platform for fostering leadership qualities along with academic life."

Fr Dr Roque D’Souza, Parish Priest, administered the oath to Akshatha, the school pupil leader, and Neel D’Souza, the assistant pupil leader. He pledged to ensure continuity in office without any failure, urging them to become role models for young students.

Sr Ancilla Roshni D’Mello, the headmistress, solemnized the oath of office for 32 ministers and wished them the best of luck.

Various curricular activities and clubs for this academic year were inaugurated by drawing images of butterflies.

Students performed skits and dances, spreading messages on the day. Swen and Varsha, students of the school, emceed the event. Pooja, a student, welcomed the gathering, and Prathviraj proposed the vote of thanks.

Sr Nancy D’Souza, the director of the school parliament, and Roopa Karkera, the mother of Dr Disha and the chief guest of the event, were present on the occasion.
