Doha Oct 25: The Goan Welfare Association’s World Goa Day celebrations recently at Al Ghazal Club were magnanimously brought in with the eponymous debut performance of the Pop Sensation, O’luv Rodriguez, for the first time ever in Qatar. The high-voltage, electrifying performance received an overwhelming response. O’luv left his fans predominantly spellbound with his style extraordinaire and rollicking pop epics.

After a exhilarating start, several local artists; Filu Camilo, John Desa, Blena and Jayden D’Souza, Baby Elena Noronha, Chynara Rodrigues and Sanchia Fernandes escalated the moods for entertainment "unlimited" with their variety of performances; vocal, instrumental, dance and acting skills, which brought out the reluctance in the audiences to let go.

Other commendable acts were presented by Simon D’Silva and his entourage Tania Rodrigues, Joe Luis D’Souza, Armando Gomes, Luis Carvalho, John Desa, Peroz Pereira, Roseferns, Charles Fernandes, Anthony Rodrigues, Garsio Fernandes, Sanlorf and Snasloy D’Silva with their one-act play "JUGAR" (Gambling) emphasizing a strong message to the youth to inculcate good values to ensure a better tomorrow.

Other applaudable performances were by Natcey Barretto and Rosario Dias with their comic drunken musical act, Vincy D’Costa and Peter Camilo with their songs with a comic edge, "Boom Paka" and "Ifern" respectively. Music for the evening was presented by Agnelo Rodrigues, drum beats by Martin Mascarenhas, Glorio Fernandes provided light effects and backstage was supported by Effey Noronha.

Elvis Goes live with Joe D’Costa and his troupe (Kepemchim Kirnnam) put up a colourful display of assorted traditional music, folk and salsa dances, Goes promised an entertaining evening by belting out an array of musical genres; pop, rock, the traditional mando and more. His band of musicians had so much zest and love for their instrument that its repertoire exceeded the viewer’s expectations. Over the years, Elvis took over the Konkani language and Goan culture around the world and last Friday, Qatar was his 29th international performances. During the function, Joe D’Costa released his new album “GOA” at the hands of Luizinho Faleiro who was chief guest of the evening.

Chief Guest Luizinho Faleiro, Ex-Chief Minister of Goa and member of CWC acclaimed Goan Welfare Association's effort for once again putting up a tremendous show by uniting all Goans to promote the Goan culture, tradition and the Konkani language. President Simon D’Silva and his team was also appreciated by Faleiro for their noble works to serve charitable institutions back home. Jaysingh Rane was guest of honour and special guest was Dr Mohan Thomas.

Goan Welfare Association once again succeeded in putting up a tremendous show and the response has been positively thrilling. Momentos, as token of appreciation were given away to all the performers and people who have worked and supported to make the event a great success. Simon D’Silva thanked Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, honourable guests, sponsors, well-wishers and audience for patronizing the event.

Allwyn Azavedo from Dubai with his flawless Konkani compered the event.
