Bengaluru, Jun 19: Many IIT graduates secure prestigious positions in corporate firms, and some dare to venture into entrepreneurship. One such inspiring individual is Ankush Sachdeva, whose story is a testament to perseverance and resilience. Despite facing 17 failed attempts to launch a start-up, he ultimately succeeded.

Ankush co-founded Mohalla Tech Pvt Ltd., the parent company of ShareChat, in January 2015, alongside his two IITian friends, Bhanu Singh and Farid Ahsan. In November 2014, they discovered that audiences on Facebook and WhatsApp were consuming content in Indic languages. By October 2015, the trio had launched ShareChat, offering content in Marathi, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi.

Sachdeva earned his BTech in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur in 2015. During his studies, he interned with Microsoft from May to July 2014. He completed his secondary education at Somerville School.

Ankush is the CEO of ShareChat, headquartered in Bengaluru. The company is expanding rapidly across India and internationally, including the US and Europe. As of June 2022, the company is valued at Rs 40,000 crore and employs over 1,000 people. It is also backed by Google.
