Mangaluru, Jun 20: District BJP staged a protest by blocking the road at PVS circle on Thursday, June 20, against the Congress-led state government over the rise in petrol and diesel prices.

A large number of BJP leaders, including MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur, and corporators, gathered at PVS circle and raised slogans against the state government.

Capt Brijesh Chowta said, "The Congress government has imposed a burden on the public by raising petrol and diesel prices. Siddaramaiah has punished the people of Karnataka for supporting BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindutva ideology by increasing prices. The BJP has always stood in favour of the deprived public. The Congress government is in a confused state after losing the recent elections and is looting money from the public to fill the government's treasury."

"Two days ago, the BJP protested and warned the government. Today, we are blocking the road and protesting against the government. In the upcoming sessions, all BJP MLAs will raise their voices against this injustice and fight until justice is served," he said.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath stated, "Siddaramaiah claims that the government is not incurring losses and has sufficient funds in the treasury. The chief minister needs to clarify why petrol and diesel prices are being increased despite adequate funds in the government treasury, burdening the public."

Later, the BJP leaders blocked the road and continued raising slogans. Police detained the protestors.

Just another photo-op. Hope your next protest will be on the law and order situation in Manipur. It is over a year and the violence rages but still no President's rule and/or bringing in the army to restore law and order in the land. Very poor selective listening.

You can protest but you can not cause inconvenience to public and disrupt normal life in the city. If you do you will face law.

The chaps in this protest appear to be from the financially well off section out for some pseudo publicity, costing the daily wagers and small time employees severe inconvenience and financial loss! 😞; any sensible, conscientious, and ethical person wouldn't have joined such a repeat protest call!!

Most of the individuals in the picture are multi millionaire's including the MLA. What is the purpose of blocking roads while protesting? Where are the police who are champions of Suo Moto cases. Shame of the BJP and powerless police force.

Blocking the roads is a traffic rules violations. Those who have blocked the commuters on the road should be booked under the traffic rules. I am not understanding why the police haven't threw them inside police custody.

Once they already observed a protest; now again protesting, blocking traffic and troubling the general public is nonsensical, probably those collected here have no other work! BTW! why there is pindrop silence 🤫 on the NEET scam which is fully exposed in atleast three states and lacs of poor hardworking and honest student's future is in limbo; surprisingly, there is not even a single comment from the CEO on the NEET jhumla!!

I am not affiliated to any party. Ask these jokers, where werre they when Modi Govt increased the petrol and diesel prices from 78 rupees to 102-105 ? Why these senseless people hid in the rats billet? Shame on these Kannadigas. Forget your party politics, try and support your state. Look at the scams and sex related crimes coming out of 10 year of rule. Where are you guys? Comes to your senses. Dont waste time and money and lose your vocal chords.

Rangaji, Rahulji clearly told that, if they come to power then only 1 lakhs promises. Without power how can he give. Siddaramayya has kept up his promises and mostly Andha Bhaktas enjoying freebies. Those peoples want to cast votes to BJP and waiting for Rahulji freebies. Don't think that Congress peoples are MANGAS.
